In a candid interview with fellow actress Ayo Adesanya, Akintola lamented that Nollywood has shifted its priorities away from meaningful storytelling and talent toward physical appearance.

She stressed that actors now spend more time worrying about their outfits, makeup, and body enhancements than honing their craft.

“Now, people are saying, ‘My makeup isn’t right for this, and I can’t wear this.’ Is that what the film is about? We are more concerned about our outfits and how we look.

This is why, generally, there is a spark in BBL. It is now about looks and not content or what one has. Looks will fade no matter what you do,“ Akintola stated.

Her powerful words reflect a growing sentiment among industry veterans who fear that the true essence of Nollywood—storytelling and raw acting skill—could be overshadowed by vanity.
