The untimely demise of Nollywood makeup artiste, Kumbalee, in a fatal accident just two weeks after celebrating his birthday, has left the industry in shock. Kumbalee, also known as Williams Anuoluwapo, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on August 16.

The late makeup artist had joyfully shared new birthday photos on his Instagram, unknowingly approaching his untimely end. His sudden departure has prompted an outpouring of grief from his colleagues in the industry who took to social media to express their disbelief.

Actress Jumoke Odetola, in a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram, expressed her shock and disbelief, lamenting the loss of Kumbalee with whom she had spoken just a day before his tragic passing. Similarly, actor Adeniyi Johnson remembered Kumbalee as a humble individual and offered prayers for his soul.

The Nollywood community mourns the loss of the talented Kumbalee, and may his soul rest in peace.

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has attributed her success to ‘old cats’ women in the music industry.

She acknowledged the significant contributions of the women who paved the way for her in entertainment, emphasizing their sacrifices to challenge the status quo and create equal opportunities for female performers.

Simi, however, said she would not take undue credit, recognizing the invaluable groundwork laid by the pioneers in the industry.

During a conversation with African Folder Magazine, Simi made this statement about appreciating the advantages that come from the labour of the women who came before her.

She said: “There are women who have worked hard to damn the status quo. So, I won’t give myself much credit because I also benefited from other women who came before me.”

Singer Joeboy speaks on getting married

Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, has said he is open to marrying his current girlfriend.

He described his current relationship as “pure intense helpless love”.

Speaking in the latest episode of Madame Joyce’s ‘Cocktails & Takeaways’ podcast, Joeboy said he believes in love and marriage.

He said, “My current relationship is like pure, intense helpless love. I believe in love and marriage to an extent [laughs].

“The person I am with now, I can be with her for life. If I don’t see myself being with somebody for life, I’m not going to be in a committed relationship. I would rather let’s just be seeing ourselves but no commitment.”

Joeboy disclosed in an interview last year that he spent roughly N50 million on his current girlfriend within two years.

He said he was not sure about the figure, adding that it could be far more than that.

He also said he prefers to keep the identity of his girlfriend hidden to protect his private life from social media scrutiny.
