Lateef Adedimeji announces two-part Netflix epic biopic ‘Lisabi’
Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has announced a two-part Netflix epic biopic ‘Lisabi’, starring Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, among others.
‘Lisabi: The Uprising’, the first part of the epic, will premiere on Netflix on September 27, 2024.
Its sequel ‘Lisabi: A Legend is Born’ is to come months after in January 2025.
‘Lisabi’ spotlights the life and legacy of the fabled Yoruba hero, Lisabi, whose life left a lasting mark on Yoruba history.
Set in the 18th century, the film tells the story of an Egba farmer who ignites a rebellion against the oppressive Oyo Empire.
His defiance, culminating in the defeat of over 6000 Oyo soldiers, secures Egba’s independence after centuries of subjugation.
The drama, its producers say, features a compelling storyline, dynamic characters, and lofty production values.
The film is produced by Lateef Adedimeji’s wife who also an actress and producer Mo Bimpe and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.
It is produced by Al Notions Studios and Anthill Studios.
The story is written by Niyi Akinmolayan and Yinka Olaoye.
‘Lisabi’ stars Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, Mo Bimpe, Eniola Ajao, Liquorose Afije, and Lateef Adedimeji.

The two Nigerian stars made the Honour Roll for their contributions to American R&B singer Chris Brown’s track ‘Sensational’, which reached No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay Chart.
Davido and Lojay’s involvement in the project, which spanned from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024, marks a significant achievement for African artistes on the global music stage.
Lojay’s hit single ‘Monalisa’ saw even greater success when Chris Brown was featured on its remix, boosting its commercial performance.
Chris Brown has increasingly collaborated with Afrobeats artists, becoming one of the most influential foreign musicians in the genre.
His work with Nigerian stars, including Davido and Lojay, has further cemented the genre’s global reach and success.

The trio will join other international artists to deliver thrilling performances at the event, scheduled for 4th to 6th October 2024 at the Gold Coast.
Rema is set to perform on 5th October alongside American singers Jorja Smith, Fiji, and Miguel, adding his signature Afrobeats sound to the international lineup.
Meanwhile, Omah Lay and Asake will close out the festival on 6th October, sharing the stage with legendary American rapper Busta Rhymes.
The festival will also feature performances from popular acts such as The Compozers, Sarz, Seyi Vibez, Tiwa Savage, Victony, Ruger, BNXN, and Shallipopi.
