The rules guiding us in life are simple and yet most often, people take them for granted. These unofficial rules determine how successful and fulfilling our lives may or not become.

There is, however, a particular rule in life, which is the most dangerous, though more enticing to disregard. Many have flouted this rule and paid dearly for it. You should never acquire illegally what belong to the other. Incidentally, this is the tenth commandment in the Holy Book of the Christians!

“Thou shalt not covet”

Bling Lagosians movie is as glamorous as the name sounds. It’s a movie which indeed depicts the extravagant lifestyles of the rich and powerful in a megacity. Glamour, expensive cars, jewelry, clothing and gossiping are sufficiently displayed.

Akin Holloway is more than just an ordinary man on the street or in power. Bolanle Austen-Peters created a character of a man who has the world at his feet without any care in the world!

It’s not known, by the storyline, whether he broke all the 10 commandments in the Bible but, Akin, played by Gbenga Titilayo, sure did break the tenth, which actually marks the beginning of his end.

The movie opens up in the ever busy Lagos metropolis with Akin narrating how flashy his life is and how blessed he is to have his wife and two daughters.

But things turn south the moment his benefactor, Oloye Ojo, played by Jide Kosoko, passes on suddenly after a marathon sex with an escort.

When Assets Management company comes knocking, Akin, who used to be seen as tower of self confidence, runs helter skelter. He becomes so desperate, engages in illegal act of insider trading and holding on to any assistance he could get. He also seeks governor’s intervention through his mother to save his empire.

In the middle of it all, his flamboyant wife, Mopelola, played by Elvina Ibru wants to celebrate her 51st birthday, his first daughter’s marriage is crumbling while his rebellious Oxford trained lawyer second daughter is having hard time with her chosen script writing career.

His crash is eminent because he flouts a very important rule in life. While he is struggling to save his empire with the help of his close friend, who is also a director in his company, he is at the same time in illicit hot romance with his wife! Akin doesnt care or feel any sense of guilt when it comes to showering his friend’s wife with best gifts and sex.

In the process of jumping from one bed to another with his friend’s wife, Akin jumps to his destruction. He loses his empire to the last person he would have expected in the world.

Does his glamourous family, especially Mopelola Holloway, remain the same after that? What really happened to Akin and how does it play out in end?

It is normal for movies to have an end, but one assurance I can give you is that Bling Lagosians is one movie you never fault the end of the storyline, with a big potential to keep the audience glued to their seats till the end.

The movie boasts of array of A-List actors. Bolanle also wove some interesting characters like Boda Shaggy and Helen Paul among others, into the movie, making the time spent sitting in a cinema hall worths it.

The casts include Bunmi Aboderin, Toyin Abraham, Tana Adelana, Osas Ighodaro Ajibade, Monalisa Chinda, Alexx Ekubo and host of others the audience would want to see.

It is a story of glamour, hate, hypocrisy, love, betrayal, revenge, laughter and the willingness to face one’s challenges without backing down or out.

Bolanle Austen-Peters didn’t forget to display her acumen for her trade by easily merging the sophistication of Lagosians with a Fuji genre.

In short, Bling Lagosians is a story of a family who, despite being disgraced in the morning, parties at night.
