The EFCC has ramped up efforts to combat the growing trend of money spraying at social events, which involves the public display of money, often in a manner that damages or defaces the currency.

This practice, though popular in certain social circles, is considered illegal under Nigerian law, as it is seen as a form of abuse and mutilation of the national currency.

Murja Ibrahim Kunya’s arrest is part of the EFCC’s ongoing crackdown on individuals engaging in this practice. Recently, the commission has arrested several TikTok influencers for similar offenses, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, further underlining its commitment to curbing Naira mutilation.

As of now, neither the EFCC nor Murja Ibrahim Kunya’s legal representatives have released any official statements addressing the matter. The arrest of the social media star has sparked conversations on social media, with many weighing in on the legal implications of such acts, particularly for influencers who often set trends that are imitated by a large following.

This arrest highlights the EFCC’s continued vigilance in ensuring the preservation of the integrity of Nigeria’s currency and its determination to tackle the increasing misuse of Naira notes at public events.
