Why I stopped going to church – Ayo Edebiri
Nigerian-American actress, Ayo Edebiri, has spoken about her religious beliefs after moving from Boston to New York City for college.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the 28-year-old actress said she was raised Pentecostal and was deeply involved in church life.
The film star described the church as “more or less a second home”. She, however, said the teachings about the rapture made her anxious and scared.
Edebiri also said she struggled with the church’s idea that her gay and Muslim friends would not make it to heaven.
She said this brought her “so much sadness” and led her to take “a break” from church.
“The was horrible for my anxiety,” she said.
“I was petrified of death. I was petrified of the rapture. It was genuinely breaking my brain and giving me so much stress and sadness. I was just like, ‘I need a break.’ ”
The actress was born in Boston on October 3, 1995. She is the daughter of a Barbadian mother and a Nigerian father.
Her journey in entertainment began in high school while taking part in open mic challenges.
She attended New York University, where she initially intended to study teaching before switching her major to Dramatic Writing.
In 2022, Edebiri featured in the comedy-drama series ‘The Bear’, for which she won a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award.
In addition to ‘The Bear’, Edebiri starred in the 2023 teen comedy ‘Bottoms’.
She also served as a writer on the FX horror comedy ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ in 2022
Afrobeats artiste Ruger has disclosed during an interview on “The Road Show” on Cool FM that his last driving experience was in 2023, which ended abruptly due to an accident.
The incident occurred at night in Lagos, resulting in his vehicle flipping three times.
“It was during a nighttime drive in Lagos when we had an accident, although we were just fooling around at the time and no one else knew about it.
“This is actually the first time I’m mentioning it. The car flipped about three times, but thankfully, everyone came out unscathed. This happened last year, by the way,” he revealed.
Despite the severity of the crash, Ruger and his companions survived from the incident without deep injuries.
Afrobeat singer Made Kuti has celebrated his wife, Nedo Kuti, with an emotional message on her birthday, June 13th.
He posted photos of his “African Queen” on Instagram, praising her as the most beautiful, gorgeous, sexiest, kindest, loving, conscious, funniest, sweetest, warmest, and amazing wife.
He expressed his gratitude for her being everything he wanted and needed.
“Happy Birthday to the most beautiful, most gorgeous, sexiest, kindest, loving, conscious, funniest, sweetest, warmest, most amazing wife. @nedokuti Thank you for being everything I want and need,” he wrote.
Nedo responded in his comment section, calling him the most handsome, hardworking, talented, creative, extraordinary, multi-talented, and multi-instrumentalist. She thanked him for his unconditional love.
“My husband! The best, the most handsome, hardworking, talented, creative, extraordinary, multi-talented, and multi-instrumentalist. Thank you! Thank you for loving me unconditionally! I love you,” she replied.
Nigerian singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has opened up about his romantic life.
In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, Ruger revealed his unique ability to love multiple women simultaneously, stating,
“I can fall in love with five different women at the same time. I don’t know if it’s possible for others but I can do it. And I will actually love them, not infatuation.”
Ruger shared that he falls in love easily, with gifts and compliments significantly influencing his feelings. “It’s just easy for me to fall in love. Gifts and compliments make me develop feelings for ladies. I really appreciate gifts and compliments,” he explained.
Ruger also clarified his musical versatility, stating, “I can do every other thing [genre of music] but I am an Afrobeats artiste.”
