I once attempted to imitate Beyonce’s performance- Fireboy DML

Afrobeats sensation, Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML has revealed how his attempt to imitate Beyoncé’s performance routine failed.

Fireboy decided to focus on artist development to improve his stage performance instead since he couldn’t keep up with the multiple-Grammy winner.

Speaking in a recent interview with RollingStone, he said: “Right from time, even when I used to write my saddest songs, I used to imagine myself playing them in front of millions of people. I always imagine myself on stage when I write my songs.

“So taking that energy from the studio to stage is really a piece of cake for me. What matters to me is making sure that I have fun. When I enjoy myself, everyone else enjoys themselves. Step by step, I learned from the greats, I studied; did artist development stuff like vocal training.

“There was a time I tried to copy Beyonce’s routine. But I didn’t last two days.”

Fireboy recently speaks on how he rejected many deals but accepted Olamide’s deal because he knew it was “the right decision.”

“I rejected a couple of deals from big artists that wanted to sign me. But when Olamide came, I knew it was the right decision. And that process has really helped me in making decisions going forward,” he said.

Fireboy DML signed to YBNL Nation in 2028 and released his debut album, ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps’ the following year.
