Nollytrailers-

Twenty-four hours after prominent Nollywood actors and members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, aka Agbogidi, were kidnapped in an Enugu suburb, their abductors have contacted their families.

The actors were reported missing after their family members confirmed they didn’t return home from a film location at Ozalla Town, Enugu state, on Thursday.

Both actors are renowned for starring in movies shot in Enugu and Delta states.

On Saturday, the AGN national president, Emeka Rollas, told PREMIUM TIMES that the kidnappers are requesting a lump sum in dollars.

He said, “The kidnappers have made contact with the families and are demanding the sum of $100,000. We pray to God for his intervention and for Him to put confusion in their midst.

“We are also working closely with the different security operatives, but we are not sure what to expect from them because the same thing is happening everywhere in the country.”

Mr Rollas also said members of the Guild are working closely with the families of the victims and the security forces to ensure their safe release.
In a Punch newspaper interview published Saturday, Mr Rollas said, ‘‘the kidnappers cleared the monies in Cynthia Okereke’s account this morning’’.
Extra measures

As part of measures to forestall a repeat occurrence, Mr Rollas said that the Guild had ordered its members not to shoot outside of the metropolis and to ensure that they make adequate provisions for security in their locations.
AGN’s Director of Communications, Monalisa Chinda, broke the news of the kidnap of the actors in a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Friday.

Ms Chinda said their kidnap had increased fear amongst members about the safety of actors filming in the country.

Wizkid Billboard 200 record

Wizkid equals Burna Boy’s record for the most charting Nigerian albums on the Billboard 200 with ‘Morayo’, marking his fourth entry.

Nigerian superstar Wizkid has matched his compatriot Burna Boy’s record as the Nigerian artist with the most charting albums in Billboard 200 history.

The Starboy boss achieved this milestone with the debut of his latest album, Morayo, at number 98 on the Billboard 200. The album sold 13,000 units in its first week, marking Wizkid’s fourth appearance on the prestigious chart.

“Wizkid ties Burna Boy as the Nigerian artist with the most charting albums in Billboard 200 history (4 each),” global music monitoring platform Chart Data announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

Beyond the Billboard 200, Morayo also made a strong impression on the Billboard World Albums chart, debuting at number 4. This reinforces Wizkid’s global influence and his continued rise in international music rankings.

Wizkid’s achievement puts him in league with Burna Boy, whose latest album I Told Them… also climbed the Billboard charts earlier this year. Both artists now boast four charting albums, a testament to their consistency and worldwide appeal.

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian artist Davido may soon join the race. With three albums already debuting on the Billboard 200 and his highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5IVE, set for release next year, he could soon achieve a similar milestone.

As Nigerian music continues to captivate global audiences, artists like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido are spearheading the Afrobeats movement, making history on global platforms and shining a spotlight on Africa’s vibrant music scene.

The singer shared that he congratulated Donald Trump after his electoral victory, despite voting for his opponent, Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party.

“I congratulated Donald Trump. That’s the president! What are you talking about? If I were running against him, I would still have congratulated him,” he stated.

He added, “What I like about America is that there’s true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so. To be honest, I voted for Kamala Harris because I wanted to see the first female president in my generation. That would have been cool.”
