Yusuf Lawal denies reports of Kira Taiwo childbirth after Ogogo’s death, urging the public to stop spreading unverified claims about the family

Yusuf Lawal, Nigerian professional footballer and son-in-law of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Nigeria, denied reports that Yusuf Lawal’s wife, Kira Taiwo, had given birth following the death of her father, Ogogo.

Reports circulating online had claimed that Kira Taiwo welcomed a baby boy two days after Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23.

Yusuf Lawal dismissed the claim in a disclaimer shared on his Instagram Story, simply stating: “This is not true.”

The footballer said the false report had generated calls and messages from concerned relatives and friends, prompting the family to publicly clarify the situation.

“We’ve been receiving calls and messages from family and friends asking about it, so we felt the need to clarify publicly,” Yusuf said.

Yusuf Lawal also appealed to members of the public to show sensitivity towards the family at a difficult time.

“At a time when our family is mourning the loss of our father, we kindly ask everyone to stop spreading unverified information about our family,” he added.

The clarification comes days after Ogogo’s death, which prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Ogogo was buried on Monday, August 24, one day after his death, as members of his family and associates began mourning the veteran actor.

The childbirth claim added an unnecessary layer of public speculation to an already emotional period for the family.

Yusuf Lawal’s statement therefore seeks to draw a clear line between confirmed family information and reports circulating online.

The incident also highlights the speed at which unverified personal claims can spread on social media, particularly when they involve prominent entertainment figures and their families.
