Omotola had previously criticised actors dancing on social media to market films, stating in a February interview with TVC Entertainment that she finds it unprofessional and unnecessary for promotion.

She emphasised that while she enjoys dancing, it should be for fun, not a marketing requirement.

Mother’s Love, Omotola’s directorial debut, opened in Nigerian cinemas on March 6 after premiering in Lagos on March 1.

The family drama explores the mother-daughter relationship and stars Ifeanyi Kalu, Noray Nehita, Lilian Afegbai, Nosa Rex, and Olumide Oworu.

Before its cinema release, the film was screened at international festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Since opening, it has grossed approximately N25 million at the Nigerian box office.
