Bimbo Akintola talks about the role that movie industries has had in growth of immorality in society
Nigerian actress and talk show host, Bimbo Akintola has shared her opinion on the role that the movie industry has had in the growth of immorality in society.
She claimed that since the issue might be linked to improper parenting, Nollywood should not be held responsible for the activities that youngsters are doing in today.
In an interview with The Punch, Bimbo Akintola claimed that rather than inventing social vices, the movie industry only mirrored them.
In her words ;
“It is not true that movies are responsible for the decadence in society. Yes, the industry educates on what is going on in society; but, are you telling me that Nigerians don’t raise their children at home anymore? I remember my upbringing; and I know what was real and what was not. What is happening in society these days is that mothers are so busy. With existing realities, both parents have to make money to keep their children on a certain level of affluence.Now, children are practically been raised by nobody. My mother raised us. She had a big shop which she usually closed at the same time with our schools. She was a millionaire, but she would always go home to be with us. But, parents cannot afford to do that anymore. Back then, a lot of mothers stayed at home, but mothers cannot afford that anymore. The industry is not what is affecting society. Rather, it is reflecting the problems in society.”
Kesiena Tony Adjekpovu, popularly known as Kess, has said that participating in Big Brother Naija can make life harder, offering a candid reflection on the challenges that may come with the reality television experience.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate made the comment in a statement shared on social media, where he suggested that winning or simply taking part in the reality show does not necessarily make life easier after leaving the house.
“Big Brother makes your life harder,” Kess said.
The remark has drawn attention because life after reality television can bring a different set of expectations, particularly as former housemates adjust to increased public attention and the pressure that can accompany visibility.
Kess was a housemate on the seventh season of Big Brother Naija, which aired in 2022. He entered the show as a businessman and was among the contestants who competed for the season’s grand prize.
His time on the programme also placed him in the public eye, giving viewers an opportunity to follow his personality and relationships inside the house.
Kess’s latest comment offers a more reflective view of the reality TV platform, suggesting that the experience does not end when a contestant leaves the house.
However, he did not provide further details in the available post explaining which specific aspects of life after Big Brother he was referring to.
