Nigerian actor Femi Branch has criticised some of his colleagues, labelling them “frauds” and “unprofessional” for failing to fully embody their roles and make physical transformations for characters, stating it disrespects the craft

Veteran Nigerian actor Femi Branch has openly criticised some of his peers in the industry, accusing them of being “frauds” and unprofessional for their lack of commitment to character transformation.

In an interview with Hip TV on Wednesday, Branch expressed strong disapproval of actors who consistently maintain the same look across various film roles, arguing that such an approach disrespects the art of acting and short-changes the audience.

“You have someone that calls himself an actor and he has just one look in every film. I’m sorry dude, you’re not professional. You’re a fraud.

You’re ripping off your audience. The audience has to keep convincing themselves that it’s not you, they’re doing your job for you. You’re giving them stress!,” Branch asserted.

He further lauded Hollywood actors for their dedication, citing examples like Michael Fassbender who undergo significant physical changes for roles.

Branch stressed that true commitment to the craft demands actors be willing to alter their appearance, whether it means going bald or adopting prosthetics.

“If you have to go bald, you go bald. If you have to carry warts on your face, you carry warts! Your body doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to the craft,” he insisted.

He added that actors unwilling to make such transformations are often excluded from serious projects, as producers and directors are adept at identifying genuine talent.

“Who cares about your good looks? People are paying for the characters they can relate with,” he concluded.
