Charles Okocha Dismisses Portable’s Win, Discloses N40 Million Fraud

In their December celebrity boxing battle, Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has maintained that Nigerian rapper Portable did not win.

In the fifth round of the celebrity boxing match, Portable defeated Charles Okocha, but the Nollywood actor insisted he wasn’t vanquished, saying the singer was the one who gave up on the fight first.

Okocha even went so far as to call the battle a “manipulated” one, stating that the artist, who is far smaller than him, would not be able to defeat him in a professionally run boxing match.

Charles claimed to Punch that “it was manipulated for Portable to win.” “They did not prepare for the fight well enough, and the organizers are not pleased with the outcome of the event. He did not fight the whole rounds as we should have.

“To begin with, the ring was poor quality; it was slick throughout and had not been properly cleaned following earlier fights. Because of this, I stumbled and collapsed in the first round as Portable ran at me, attempting to hit my head. However, I was ahead in the second round, and I remained ahead until the third round. After that, he declared he was done fighting and removed his boxing gloves. You are aware of its portability.

“So, I assumed he would be eliminated because it seems senseless to remove your gloves during combat. That should have resulted in his disqualification, but since it was an exhibition fight, I don’t think he should have been crowned the winner even if it wasn’t. I think a draw would have been fairer if it wasn’t me winning. Despite claims to the contrary, he was declared the winner. I felt really let down.

Remember when Okocha and Portable met in the ring on December 27, 2023, on the eve of the Landmark beach in Lagos, following the Nollywood star’s alleged 40 million naira swindle against the musician?

Therefore, the boxing match’s organizers utilized the match to help them settle their scores. Okocha, however, maintained that he did not con Portable and that the purpose of the purported con was merely to advertise the fight.

Charles Okocha responded, “That is not true at all; he is just talking as he always does,” when questioned about the swindle. I didn’t swindle him out of any money; Portable simply enjoys drama, and this is just one of those things people say to stir up debate before a fight.Because of the excitement on social media, we received an offer from the organizers, which we accepted. We are not having any problems; it was just business.

Charles Okocha, who earlier stated that the fight’s organizers were not happy with the result, has stated that he is prepared for a better-organized rematch that is being arranged by the organizers.
