Ehi Braimah slams politicians with sharp criticism during his recent appearance on Channels Television, condemning Nigerian leaders for a lack of sincerity, transparency, and compassion.

As Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of NaijaTimes, Braimah argues these failures worsen the nation’s growing crises.

Braimah, a respected journalist and PR consultant, called for governors to be held accountable by law, requiring them to publish detailed accounts of how they spend allocations before receiving more funds.

“Governors will never publish how they spend their allocation. I’ll support a law that would mandate governors to account for the previous allocation before getting another one,” he said.

On education and health sector strikes, Braimah slammed government neglect of professionals like doctors and lecturers, highlighting unpaid allowances and broken agreements dating back to 2001 as key issues.

Speaking on the cost of living, Braimah painted a grim picture of Nigerians struggling with low wages.

He recommended raising the minimum wage to N150,000 to match inflation, saying the current N70,000 salary is insufficient.

The remarks also addressed Nigeria’s deteriorating infrastructure, urging journalists to hold governors accountable, especially with increased federal allocations.

Braimah linked poor governance to corruption, noting, “When people are well taken care of, corruption will reduce.” He also drew attention to security personnel protesting over unpaid benefits.

He concluded with a strong warning that the biggest threat to democracy comes from within the political class.

“Politicians are the biggest threat to our democracy, and the judiciary is being used to weaken it,” Braimah said.
