Foluke Daramola political support for Tinubu cost her ₦25m in brand deals and strained personal ties, but actress says she has no regrets

Foluke Daramola political support for President Bola Tinubu came with a steep personal and financial price, as the Nollywood actress revealed she lost ₦25 million worth of brand ambassadorship deals over her stance during the 2023 elections.

Speaking on Behind The Fame TV, Daramola-Salako disclosed that two contracts — one worth ₦10 million and another worth ₦15 million — were withdrawn following backlash from the Obidient movement.

“I know what I lost without collecting a kobo. I lost two ambassadorship deals… I almost lost my marriage. But at the end of the day, I voted my conscience and my choice,” she said.

Daramola-Salako, who served as media assistant for the Performing Arts Directorate of the APC’s 2023 Presidential Campaign Council in Lagos, described Tinubu as a father figure who has supported her at key moments, including her wedding.

She reiterated that her decision to back Tinubu was personal, despite political differences with her husband, Kayode Salako, who supported Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.

In September 2022, she had publicly stated that her husband’s political leanings would not affect her APC role.
