In a groundbreaking achievement for Nollywood, actress Funke Akindele’s latest film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” has set a historic record by becoming the first Nigerian film to surpass the N1 billion mark. The announcement was officially confirmed by Film One Studios.

Kene Okwuosa, the CEO of Film House Group, expressed his excitement about this significant milestone, stating, “We are witnessing a golden era for Nigerian cinema, and Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah reaching the 1 billion Naira mark is an indication of the creative industry’s immense success.”

“A Tribe Called Judah” premiered at the Imax Cinemas on December 10 and hit the general cinemas on December 15. The film, co-directed by Adeoluwa Owu and Funke Akindele, has achieved unparalleled success, surpassing the earnings of Funke’s previous blockbuster movies, including “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” and “Battle on Buka Street.”

The storyline of “A Tribe Called Judah” revolves around a family of boys who embark on a daring mission to rob a mall in a bid to raise funds for their mother’s hospital bills. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when they encounter armed robbers at the mall.
