Kamo State Funke speculation is misplaced, the actor says, after Funke Akindele missed his Star Lomo premiere while out of the country

Akinyoola Ayoola, the skit maker and actor known as Kamo State, said on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, that Funke Akindele missed the premiere of his debut cinema film, Star Lomo, because she was out of the country, not because of a rift.

He posted the clarification on X after online comment linked her absence to a falling-out.

He said they were on good terms, had spoken about the missed night, and that she would still support the film.

“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we’re on good terms. She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise. We’ve spoken about it, and she’s going to support this film. I’d appreciate it if our personal relationship isn’t speculated on. Let’s keep our focus on the film.”

Their working link became more visible during Everybody Loves Jenifa in 2024.

Funke Akindele has not, in the immediate reporting of the post, issued her own public note.

The statement tries to close a rumour before it hardens around a first cinema release. Whether that holds will depend less on one paragraph on X than on what both of them do next for Star Lomo.
