Mary Remmy Njoku shared her thoughts on Instagram, where she openly challenged the logic behind the parenting style, arguing that children’s cognitive development is still in progress and may not fully support such negotiated discipline.

The actress wrote that she does not understand why parents are expected to engage in calm, detailed explanations with children over basic instructions, suggesting that the approach can feel impractical in real-life situations.

“Please, who started this gentle parenting? Who gathered all of us and said we should now begin to negotiate with tiny humans whose brains are still under construction?” Mary Remmy Njoku stated, adding a humorous comparison to explaining simple instructions repeatedly in everyday settings.

Mary Remmy Njoku further implied that, in her view, children often recognise when such calm approaches may not consistently hold authority, noting that parental consistency remains a challenge under the model.

The comments have sparked discussion online, where parenting styles remain a widely debated topic among modern families, educators, and social media users.
