Aisha Lawal, Yaw, Others To Act In Baba Wande’s ‘Ti Oluwa Ni Ile’ Re-adaptation

A veteran actor, Kareem Adepoju, popularly known as Baba Wande, has said that he feels happy being involved in the re-adaptation of the iconic Yoruba movie, ‘Ti Oluwa Ni Ile’, back to life on stage in a new production titled, ‘Asiyanbi: Ti Oluwa Nile’.

Originally penned in 1987 and transformed into a cinematic gem in 1993, ‘TI OLUWA NILE’ captivated audiences with its themes of intrigue and justice.

Released in 1993 through Mainframe Films and Television Productions, the three-part movie was Tunde Kelani’s directorial debut.

Expressing his excitement at being part of the production, Baba Wande said, “This is a historic project. Even though I own the story, I am more than grateful to be part of this project. I give the producers of this play kudos for their ingenuity. I am happy this happening in my lifetime, and I am fully in support.”

The stage play is being brought to life again by an international cultural organisation— Aroogba Groove.

The executive producer of the stage play, Dotun Taylor, said he embarked on the project in a bid to ensure that the essence and cultural significance of the original movies are preserved, while adding a fresh perspective for the stage adaptation.

Directed by Ropo Ewenla, and written by Shola Balogun, the play will also feature actor such as Aisha Lawal, Baba Kamo, Dele Omo Woli, Mummy G.O, Baba Alariya, Ozain, Iya Mufu, Layi Wasabi, Yaw, Lekan Kingkong, and Jude Chukwuka.
