Omotunde Ogundimu reveals her cervical cancer diagnosis and appeals for financial support while sharing her struggles after 35 years in Nollywood

Veteran Nollywood actress Omotunde Ogundimu has revealed her battle with cervical cancer, appealing to the public for financial assistance as she seeks treatment and support during a difficult period.

The actress disclosed her health condition on Tuesday during an interview with fellow actress Biola Adebayo on the Talk to B podcast, where she spoke about keeping her diagnosis private since 2025.

Ogundimu, who described herself as a widow and a single mother of three, said she decided to seek public support after exhausting personal resources and relying heavily on her children for medical expenses.

The revelation has drawn attention to the personal struggles faced by some veteran entertainers dealing with serious health challenges after decades in the industry.

“I’m going through severe pain. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I don’t know where I got it from. I don’t look for people’s trouble; I’m an easy-going person,” she said.

The actress explained that her children had spent much of their income supporting her treatment, leaving them with limited resources for their own needs.

“My children have also spent all they have. My children are now exhausting their income on me. They can no longer care for themselves, but I thank God for blessing me with my children,” Ogundimu said.

She appealed to Nigerians for help, saying she had reached a point where she needed support to continue her medical journey.

“I just have to cry out for help so that I can survive this deadly disease because I don’t have anything left. Nigerians, please have mercy on me. I just want to be healed. The pain is severe,” she said.

Ogundimu also revealed that she lost her husband in 2012 and has since raised her three children as a single parent.

The actress, who said she has spent 35 years in Nollywood, claimed that she has struggled to secure acting roles in recent years despite reaching out to colleagues within the industry.

“I don’t usually get jobs. I have called my colleagues in the industry to beg them for movie roles, but none of them did,” she said.

While seeking assistance, Ogundimu also appealed for forgiveness from anyone she may have offended, saying she hoped to resolve any past disagreements.

“Please, if I offended anyone in the industry, please forgive me,” she said.

Her disclosure has renewed discussions about healthcare support, welfare systems and the challenges experienced by ageing actors in Nigeria’s entertainment sector.
