Bukola Arugba discusses her separation from Damola Olatunji, explaining the split was due to an unworkable relationship despite her best efforts

Popular Nollywood actress Bukola Awoyemi, better known by her stage name Bukola Arugba, has finally addressed her separation from actor Damola Olatunji, revealing the reasons behind their split.

The actress spoke candidly during a recent question-and-answer session with her fans on her YouTube channel.

In May 2023, news broke that Arugba and Olatunji had parted ways, sparking a flurry of rumours surrounding the split. Speculation suggested that allegations of infidelity against Olatunji played a role in the breakup.

However, Arugba has now clarified the situation, stating that the real reason for their separation was the breakdown of their relationship despite her best efforts to make it work.

Speaking to her audience, Arugba shared, “My ex is living his life, and we are not fighting. We are co-parenting very well. There are some things deeper than what the eyes can see. He is the father of my twins.”

Addressing her followers, the actress explained that, although she had tried everything she could to make their relationship succeed, it ultimately became unworkable.

“We went our separate ways because it wasn’t working. I tried my best. I can only speak for myself—I tried my best to make it work, but it just wasn’t working,” she stated.

Despite the end of their relationship, Arugba emphasised that she and Olatunji were on good terms and were effectively co-parenting their twins. She urged her fans to respect their privacy and let go of any lingering curiosity about their past.

“Please, I am saying this to all my fans: I beg you in God’s name, let sleeping dogs lie,” she added.

Arugba also made it clear that she did not want the history between her and Olatunji to have any negative impact on his new relationship. “We are both doing fine.

I wouldn’t want what happened between us in his past relationship with me to affect his new relationship. Please, let the sleeping dog lie.”

The actress’s candid comments provide a refreshing perspective on her personal life and highlight her commitment to moving forward in a positive direction, particularly for the sake of her children.
