Chioma Chukwuka delves into yoruba culture for Seven Doors

Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha unveiled the cultural and linguistic hurdles she overcame to portray her role in Netflix’s latest series, Seven Doors.

The series, which explores themes of kingship, love, betrayal, and restitution, sees Chukwuka play an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king, played by Femi Adebayo.

In a recent interview on TVC, the actress revealed that she had to learn Yoruba specifically for the role. However, the Yoruba required was far from the casual, everyday dialect.

“I had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors,” she said. “The Yoruba in the movie was not the regular one spoken in Lagos State, so I had to be very particular about the tone.”
