Speaking during a panel session at the 2025 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Lagos, the award-winning singer and record producer said he would love to appear in a spontaneous role that breaks away from the usual scripts.

“My brother was saying that he was going to give me a role. I told him I wanted to do a role that would be shot by a taxi driver or something out of the blue,” Davido said, drawing laughter from the audience.

He added that the idea of collaborating with African filmmakers excites him, describing film as another powerful way to tell African stories and showcase creativity across borders.

The singer, who already has an impressive footprint in music, hinted that his move into cinema would be driven by passion rather than fame.
