The tweet urged Igbo men to “look outside for a wife” in East Africa, claiming it would prevent being falsely accused of raping their own daughters by Igbo women.

The post specifically mentioned Rwanda as a destination to “pick a damsel.”

Genevieve Nnaji, an Igbo woman from Mbaise, Imo State, responded sharply, highlighting the dangers of evading accountability. “In other words, instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and carry on with your evil. Got it,” she wrote.

Some social media users argued the original post targeted false accusers rather than all women. Nnaji, however, stressed that sweeping generalisations are harmful.

“The same way a woman can’t tell an abusive man apart from a good one is the same way you shouldn’t say avoid all Igbo women. Not all women,” she added, emphasising the risks of stereotyping.

Her comments have sparked debate across X and other platforms, with many praising her for addressing an issue that mixes cultural identity, accountability, and gender-based assumptions.
