Olakunle Fawole admits he caused his breakup with Yvonne Jegede, saying he no longer has romantic feelings but still respects her as their child’s mother

Nollywood actor Olakunle Fawole, popularly known as Abounce, has openly admitted responsibility for the breakdown of his marriage to actress Yvonne Jegede, describing the separation as a painful turning point in his personal life.

The actor made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the podcast WithChude, hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo, where he reflected on his past relationship and life after divorce.

Fawole said that while he no longer has romantic feelings for Yvonne Jegede, he still holds her in high regard because of their shared responsibility as parents to their son.

He stated that the end of the marriage was largely due to his own actions, acknowledging that he contributed significantly to its collapse.

“I don’t love her anymore, but if she’s ever in trouble, I’m stepping in,” he said.

The couple got married in 2017, but the union ended in 2019 after a highly publicised separation that sparked widespread public debate.

Following the breakup, Yvonne Jegede previously alleged in interviews that she contributed more financially to the marriage, and also raised concerns about emotional strain during the relationship, including claims about limited involvement in their child’s life at certain points.

Fawole, in his latest remarks, did not directly respond to those allegations but maintained that he bears responsibility for the relationship’s failure.

He also revealed that after the divorce, he entered another relationship which also ended, adding that he had to re-evaluate his life and focus on personal discipline.

According to him, he turned to fitness and began spending more time at the gym as part of his recovery process following the emotional aftermath of the separation.

Despite the breakdown of the marriage and ongoing public commentary surrounding it, Fawole emphasised that his respect for Yvonne Jegede remains intact, particularly in her role as the mother of his child.
