Renowned filmmaker Femi Odugbemi secures an Emmy jury role ahead of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2026

Nigerian writer, filmmaker and television producer Femi Odugbemi has been appointed as a juror for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards scheduled for September 14, 2026.

The respected filmmaker announced the development recently, describing the opportunity as an honour and a significant moment in his career within the global television industry.

Femi Odugbemi revealed that he joined the international Emmy Awards competition as part of the jury responsible for evaluating television productions from across the world.

“Delighted to have joined this year’s international Emmy awards competition as a juror. Always inspiring to engage with powerful storytelling on television from across the world.

Always an honour to contribute to celebrating the very best of our global creative community,” he said.

Emmy Awards select Femi Odugbemi as Juror role adds to the filmmaker’s growing list of achievements within the creative industry.

The veteran producer has previously served several times as Head Judge for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, including the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth editions of the ceremony.

Beyond television production, Femi Odugbemi is also recognised for promoting documentary storytelling in Africa.

In 2010, the filmmaker co-founded the i-Represent International Documentary Film Festival alongside Jahman Anikulapo and Makin Soyinka.

Industry stakeholders have described the appointment as another landmark achievement for Nigeria’s creative sector and a reflection of the increasing global recognition of African storytelling.
