While in the UK, she transitioned into business and maintained a low public profile.

The unfortunate news was initially shared by media personality and convener of the Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, who made the announcement through online reports.

Best known for her memorable roles in classic television series such as “Everyday People” and “Palace,” Akintunde’s sudden death has left fans, colleagues, and family members in shock.

An outpouring of grief and heartfelt tributes has since flooded social media platforms, particularly Facebook, where the news first broke.

Fans shared fond memories of the late actress, with one Facebook user, Omotayo Elebijo, writing, “Sun re oo Tola. You will be remembered for making people around you happy.”

Another, Kolamartins03, commented, “Rest on beloved. This is really heartbreaking.”

Her daughter, whose identity has been kept private, is reportedly struggling to come to terms with the profound loss of her mother.

Tolani Akintunde’s passing adds to a growing and painful list of losses for the Nigerian entertainment industry in 2025.

In recent months, the industry has mourned other notable stars, including actress and model Monalisa Stephen, producer Rotimi Raji, and actress Nkechi Nweje, who was laid to rest in Anambra State just days ago.

The recurring wave of deaths has cast a somber mood over Nollywood.
