Funke Akindele film The Four: No One Fights Alone arrives in cinemas on December 11, exploring friendship, motherhood and resilience
Nollywood actress, filmmaker and producer Funke Akindele announced in Nigeria on Monday, August 10, 2026, that her latest feature film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, will open in cinemas worldwide on December 11, 2026.

The announcement marks the next major theatrical project from Akindele, whose recent films have established her as one of the most commercially successful filmmakers in Nigerian cinema.
Produced by Funke Akindele Network and distributed exclusively by FilmOne Entertainment, The Four is positioned as an emotionally driven drama centred on friendship, motherhood, sacrifice, resilience and the enduring strength of women.
The story follows Esosa and three women whose lives become closely connected as they confront difficult circumstances surrounding the future of a young man they care deeply about.
The journey takes the women between the picturesque Odu community and the energy of the city, placing their relationships under pressure and testing their courage, faith and loyalty.
The filmmakers said the story also celebrates Nigerian identity through music, fashion, language, tradition and cinematography, giving the drama a strong cultural dimension alongside its personal themes. (Punch Newspapers)
Akindele is joined by an extensive cast that includes Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola.
The cast also features singer Waje, Afrobeats artiste Shoday, Samuel Banks, Kolapo Omotosho and other entertainment personalities.
The project continues a notable run for Akindele, whose recent filmography includes Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind the Scenes.
Her latest release therefore arrives with considerable attention from audiences familiar with her commercially successful productions.
Akindele described the creative direction behind the project as an exploration of the relationships that shape people’s lives.
“With The Four, we are exploring the relationships that shape us, challenge us and stay with us,” Akindele said.
Her latest announcement has also introduced a promotional campaign built around the idea of a relay, with the filmmaker using imagery of a baton being passed between performers from some of her previous productions.
The campaign provides a symbolic link between Akindele’s earlier box-office successes and the new project, while introducing The Four as her latest cinematic offering for 2026.
The December release will also give the film a significant theatrical window during the festive period, when Nigerian cinemas traditionally attract audiences looking for major local productions.
For Akindele, the release represents another opportunity to combine commercial cinema with a story built around relationships, cultural identity and human resilience.
