Funke Akindele mourns Olu Jacobs as a true legend, praising his support for young talent after the actor died at 84

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele mourned veteran actor Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, known as Olu Jacobs, who died at 84.

Funke Akindele posted on Instagram and X after Olusoji Jacobs announced his father’s death. She called Olu Jacobs a true legend whose work in Nigerian film would not be forgotten.

“A true legend, a kind and gracious man who was always willing to support, encourage and uplift young talents. Your remarkable legacy and contribution to our industry will never be forgotten,” Funke Akindele wrote.

She sent condolences to Joke Silva, their children and the Jacobs family. “My heartfelt condolences to Aunty Joke Silva, the children, the entire Jacobs family and the Nigerian film industry. May God comfort and strengthen everyone during this difficult time.”

She added: “May God grant Uncle Olu eternal rest, and may He bless all of us in the creative industry with good health and long life. Amen.” On another Instagram Story she posted a photograph of Olu Jacobs with the line, “Rest in peace Uncle!!”
