Okele foreign president idea trends as the actor suggests Nigeria should ‘sign’ ex-presidents like football coaches to solve its economic hardship

In a trending video shared on his Instagram page, the comic actor, known for his witty takes on social issues, reacted to the recent rise in the price of cooking gas and the worsening cost of living across the nation.

Speaking in Yoruba, Okele drew a humorous comparison between politics and football, arguing that Nigeria could adopt the same method football clubs use when hiring foreign coaches to improve their teams.

“If you are a lover of football, you would know that every club has a coach, assistant coach, and those that train the keepers,” he said.

“So instead of campaigning for different political parties, why can’t Nigeria look around the world and sign any ex-president that has proven himself in another country to fix Nigeria?”

He added that the country could easily “sack” a non-performing President and replace them with another, just as football teams do when their managers fail to deliver results.

The actor’s remarks, delivered with humour and frustration, resonated with many Nigerians who found his football-style proposal both funny and thought-provoking.

Others described it as a sharp reflection of the public’s growing disillusionment with political leadership.
