Iyabo Ojo had announced that the film grossed N104.8 million during its debut weekend, setting multiple milestones, including the highest-grossing Easter weekend performance, the biggest opening for a Nollywood sequel, and the second-highest opening weekend in 2026.

Reacting to the development, Funke Akindele took to Instagram to congratulate her colleague, describing the achievement as a powerful and well-deserved win.

“Congratulations! Queen Mother @iyaboojofespris. Highest-grossing movie this weekend. A well-deserved win and proof that excellence always speaks. More records to break, more greatness to come,” she wrote.

The endorsement marks a notable moment in the evolving relationship between both actresses, who have grown increasingly supportive of each other’s achievements in recent years.

Their renewed bond has seen several public displays of solidarity.

Earlier this year, Iyabo Ojo paid tribute during a remembrance for Funke Akindele’s late mother, recalling her kindness and consistent support during their early years.

In 2025, both actresses also collaborated on promotional activities for a film project in the United Kingdom, sharing moments that reflected their strengthened friendship and professional synergy.

Funke Akindele has previously described Iyabo Ojo as a close friend, praising her talent, confidence, and elegant screen presence.

Beyond recent celebrations, the relationship between both actresses carries a deeper history.

Funke Akindele has acknowledged the early support she received from Iyabo Ojo during challenging moments in her career, including instances of industry stereotyping.

Their reconciliation followed years of public disagreement, which ended in 2022 when both actresses reunited at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards Season 8, signalling a turning point in their relationship.
