Funke Akindele made the candid disclosure during an appearance on The Morayo Show, hosted by veteran broadcaster Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she reflected on her personality and approach to friendships.

“I’m an extremist. I love so hard. I’m real. I’m like this. I’m not perfect. I can be troublesome. Yes, I can be. I’m tough,” Funke Akindele said.

Responding to an observation by Morayo Afolabi-Brown that she often operates at two emotional extremes, Funke Akindele acknowledged the pattern but stressed that she is working towards achieving balance.

“I’m not proud of that and I’m proud of it. There must be a balance,” she added.

In a revealing moment, the actress credited filmmaker and close associate Uzee Usman for helping her recognise certain blind spots in her behaviour.

She recalled being advised to embrace differences in others rather than expecting uniformity, particularly in leadership roles.

The insight, she said, prompted a period of reflection and adjustment in how she manages relationships both personally and professionally.

Funke Akindele also drew on lessons from her late mother, who encouraged patience and understanding, reminding her that people operate at different speeds and capacities.

“Everybody’s not as smart as you, as fast as you. Calm down. It is good, but calm down,” she recounted.

Despite her intense disposition, the actress emphasised that she continues to evolve, placing a strong and vital emphasis on mental well-being.

“Human relationships for me are very important and I’m learning every day. But no matter what happens, my mental health is very important,” Funke Akindele said.
