Ace Nollywood actress Funke Akindele declares that she’s ready to bring actual change to the residents of Lagos state if elected. The recently unveiled Lagos state, deputy governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), shared a video of her unveiling with a message to Lagosians The veteran thespian, in her post, declared that she was ready to fulfil the hope of a better Lagos for all taxpayers in the state
Veteran Nollywood star turn politician, Funke Akindele aka Jenifa, has said in a recent throwback video of her unveiling as the deputy governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Lagos that she pledges her total support and capacity to make Lagos state better for all its resident. Akindele’s unveiling took place at her party’s state office in Ikorodu, which happens to be Funke’s hometown by her running-mate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor).
The famous filmmaker’s rally was attended by a large crowd, and she seems to still be revelling in the auspicious moment.
She took to her page to share a throwback video of the unveiling while attaching a lengthy caption to it as she asserts her willingness to help Lagos achieve all of its true potentials.
“It’s #throwbackthursday and I want to take you all back to 12th July, 2022 when I was unveiled as the running mate for Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor). I am extremely honored with my principal’s decision of choosing me to join him in achieving his vision towards making Lagos live up to its true potentials as a mega-city.”
“I have always been an advocate for good governance which is evident in the content I churn out and I am highly sensitive to the plight of people. More so, being an employer of labour and engaging in the management of people for over a decade, I understand the dynamics of leadership by service. Fortunately, this aligns with my principal’s burning desire to make a positive change and bring a breath of fresh air to Lagosians. I pledge my total support to this course in every step of our journey. I’m ready to work, so let us make an actual change and bring hope of a better Lagos to the residents of Lagos; the women, the children, people doing business in Lagos, those paying tax in Lagos, the grassroots, the elites and all Lagosians at large.”

Nollywood filmmaker Frank Igho Vaughan passes away

Popular filmmaker and former Vice President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Frank Igho Okpokoro Vaughan, is dead.

Vaughan passed on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, after battling an undisclosed illness. The news was affirmed by the President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, DGN, Victor Okhai, in a recent telephone conversation with Vanguard.

“Yes, he died yesterday, but I’m yet to get the details of his death,” Okhai said.

Vaughan, who was born in the 1960s, recently became a pastor at Dominion City Church, Asaba, Delta State. He was also a seasoned TV producer and director, as well as a current affairs and political analyst.

His death comes on the heels of actor Amaechi Muonagor, who died on March 24, 2024, at age 61 after battling a kidney disease.

BREAKING: EFCC arrests Bobrisky for naira abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested and detained controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky, over abuse of naira, spraying of naira notes and currency mutilation.

Bobrisky, who has been embroiled in several controversies over the past weeks, was arrested in Lagos on Wednesday night, and has since been detained at the Lagos Command of the EFCC.

Confirming the development to our correspondent in a telephone interview on Thursday, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, noted that Bobrisky would be charged to court.

Oyewale said, “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of nara notes, and currency mutilation, among others.

“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”

How Mide Martins bullying made me start skin bleaching – Habibat Jinad

Actress Habibat Jinad has revealed the reasons behind her decision to bleach her skin, citing pressure from a senior colleague, Mide Martins.

Speaking on Biola Bayo’s talk show, Talk To B, Habibat recounted an incident on the set of a movie directed by Mide’s husband, Afeez Owo.

During the incident, Habibat claimed that she was unjustly punished for a colleague’s mistake, and Mide Martins allegedly insulted her skin color in front of the entire crew, likening her complexion to that of a monkey.

These derogatory remarks deeply affected Habibat, leading her to consider skin bleaching in an attempt to conform to societal standards.

“At a rehearsal ground at Afeez Owo’s set, something happened, a colleague of mine did something and I wasn’t the one who did that thing and they said we should kneel.

“Mrs. Mide Martins was there, my boss was there and some other people and Mide Martins compared it to a monkey’s skin. And it got to me. She even complained about my skin, saying I was too dark and this made me contemplate bleaching my skin to please her and others,” Habibat explained.
