Ini Edo launches Alex Ekubo tribute platform, inviting fans and colleagues to share messages in honour of the late Nollywood star

Nollywood actress Ini Edo, announced in Lagos that she has launched an online tribute platform for late actor Alex Ekubo, calling on fans, colleagues and well-wishers to share personal messages and memories in honour of the deceased star.

Ini Edo, speaking via her verified Instagram page, said the initiative was designed to allow the public express their grief and celebrate Alex Ekubo’s life, adding that the gesture would provide meaningful comfort to his bereaved family.

In her message, Ini Edo described the tribute link as an opportunity for collective remembrance, urging supporters to participate respectfully and thoughtfully.

“Beloved friends and fans of our dear Alex Ekubo, we have created a link where you can leave a tribute for Alex,” Ini Edo wrote.

“This means so much to his family to know you genuinely loved him.”

The announcement has sparked an emotional response across social media platforms, where fans continue to share memories of the actor’s career and his influence within Nollywood.

Alex Ekubo’s family previously confirmed his passing following complications linked to advanced metastatic kidney cancer, a development that sent shockwaves through the Nigerian film industry.

The actor reportedly died at Evercare Hospital, with his death described by relatives as the end of a courageous battle that had been kept largely private.

A Service of Songs has been scheduled for 10 June 2026, followed by a wake keep on 17 June, ahead of his burial in Abia State on 18 June.
