Jennifer Odonwodo mourns Junior Pope, revealing her family is still in denial over the Nollywood actor’s tragic death in Anam River

In an emotional Instagram post, Jennifer shared a video of Junior Pope alongside his late father, recalling how overwhelming the grief remains. She admitted that while some days seem manageable, the reality of the loss often crashes in without warning.

“Some days feel like we are fine. Next minute on the same day feels totally off and still very much in denial. Dear Lord, heal our hearts and keep us safe. Sochima!!” she wrote.

The widow’s reflection comes in the wake of a double tragedy, as her father-in-law also passed away months after her husband’s death. Jennifer once described him as a man who genuinely cared for her, deepening the sorrow that the family continues to endure.

Junior Pope, whose real name was Pope Odonwodo, tragically drowned in the Anam River, Anambra State, on 8 April 2024, alongside others while returning from a film set produced by Adanma Luke. His untimely passing sent shockwaves through Nollywood and beyond.

Since then, Jennifer has made it her mission to preserve his memory.

She has led tributes on milestones such as his one-year remembrance in April 2025, his posthumous 45th birthday in May, and their 11th wedding anniversary in July.
