Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has alleged that internal sabotage remains a major challenge within the Nigerian film industry, describing it as a persistent issue affecting professional growth and unity.

Jim Iyke says he expressed concern over what he termed the presence of saboteurs within Nollywood, insisting that the industry requires urgent internal cleansing to reach its full potential.

The award-winning actor stated that if given the opportunity to change one thing about Nollywood, he would focus on eliminating individuals he believes undermine progress from within.

“Is there is one thing I would love to change about Nollywood, it would be to purge saboteurs from the industry. The industry is full of saboteurs. They can’t help themselves. They need therapy,” Jim Iyke said.

His comments have sparked renewed discussion around internal dynamics within the Nigerian entertainment sector, which continues to grow as one of Africa’s most influential creative industries.

Beyond his critique of the industry, Jim Iyke also shared a deeply personal moment, revealing that his proudest experience as an actor came when his son praised his performance and described him as a “genius”.

The actor said the compliment moved him emotionally, admitting that he went into the bathroom to cry after hearing his son’s words.

In the interview, Jim Iyke also named fellow actress Kate Henshaw as the performer he most enjoys working with, highlighting their professional chemistry on set.
