Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan says his businesses spend about ₦11 million on diesel every month, calling the rising fuel cost unsustainable

Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has expressed concern over the rising cost of diesel used to power his businesses, revealing that he spends about ₦11 million on fuel every four to five weeks.

The producer disclosed this in a video shared on his Instagram page, where he lamented that the cost of running his facilities has become increasingly difficult to sustain.

According to Afolayan, the expenses are largely driven by the operations at KAP Film Village and Resort, one of his major business ventures. Despite installing solar power systems at the facility, he said the businesses still rely heavily on diesel to maintain stable electricity supply.

He added that diesel now sells for about ₦1,500 per litre, a significant increase from previous prices, which has further intensified the financial strain on his operations.

Afolayan also disclosed that his businesses sometimes purchase diesel on credit in order to continue running, explaining that payments are often made gradually as revenue comes in.

In some cases, he said, it takes up to two months to settle the outstanding bills before new supplies can be obtained.
