Lagos blogger Kofoworola Akanji has been arrested and arraigned for allegedly publishing false and damaging statements about Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin on social media

Lizzy Anjorin blogger arrest Police operatives from Zone 2 Command, Lagos, have arrested 37-year-old blogger Kofoworola Akanji and arraigned her before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly posting false and damaging statements about Nollywood actress and businesswoman Lizzy Anjorin on Facebook and other social media platforms.

Anjorin petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, after discovering the publication online, requesting urgent action to identify and apprehend the publisher.

Following days of intelligence gathering, a special team led by SP Chidi Okoye arrested Akanji. After investigations, she was charged at the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Tinubu, on a three-count charge of unlawful publication of false information and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Police prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Haruna alleged that Akanji, with others still at large, committed the offences in 2023, including publishing obscene materials aimed at tarnishing Anjorin’s reputation.

The offences contravene Sections 39, 57, and 150 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Akanji pleaded not guilty. Magistrate N.A. Wahab granted her ₦100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to 21 August 2025 for mention.
