News of Ekubo’s death emerged last month after the actor reportedly died on May 11 at the age of 40 following a battle with cancer.

In a statement, his family said he passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

His death came after months of public concern over his absence from social media.

The actor had not posted on Instagram since 2024, prompting speculation among fans about his wellbeing.

Last year, model Oma Nnadi responded to enquiries about Ekubo’s absence, urging people to stop searching for him online and noting that not everyone chooses to remain active on social media.

Beyond his acting career, Ekubo was known for thoughtful reflections on life and human relationships.

Following the deaths of singer Mohbad and actor Junior Pope, he shared heartfelt messages encouraging compassion, empathy and support for people during difficult moments.
