Illbliss shares conversation on praying for Nigeria

Illbliss sparks reactions after recounting an elderly man’s dismissal of praying for Nigeria, calling it a “waste of prayer time” during a morning mass

Nigerian hip-hop artist Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor, better known as Illbliss, has sparked a wave of reactions on social media after sharing a conversation with an elderly man who dismissed praying for Nigeria as a “waste of prayer time.”

The rapper, famous for hits like *Emi Ni Baller*, recounted the encounter during a morning mass when he was reciting the “Prayer for Nigeria.”

According to Illbliss, the elderly man smiled at him and calmly said, “That’s a total waste of prayer time with God. You can’t mock God.” The remark, which challenged the act of praying for a nation plagued by hardship, insecurity, and poor governance, left Illbliss pondering the state of affairs in Nigeria.

In response, the rapper took to social media, using his platform to acknowledge the struggles that Nigerians continue to endure. He expressed solidarity with the people of the nation, particularly those who remain hopeful in the face of overwhelming adversity.

“Shoutout to Nigerians enduring hardship, insecurity, and poor governance,” Illbliss wrote, offering a heartfelt message to those continuing to navigate the difficulties of everyday life in the country.

Illbliss’ post has since generated a mix of reactions from his followers. Some agreed with the elderly man’s perspective, arguing that prayer alone may not bring the needed change, while others supported the rapper’s call for hope and action in the face of Nigeria’s challenges.

The conversation has ignited further discussion on the role of prayer, governance, and social change in Nigeria, highlighting the ongoing frustrations many feel about the state of the country.

While the debate continues, Illbliss’ candid reflection on the issue has reminded many of the pressing need for change and resilience in the face of adversity.
