In a touching video shared on her Instagram page on Saturday, the respected Nollywood star expressed profound gratitude to her fans, colleagues, and family for standing by her through her darkest moments.

With the caption “A new month, a new dawn,” Ogunmola admitted that the past months had been unbearably tough, but the love and prayers she received gave her strength to heal.

“The past months have been heavy, but your love, prayers, and condolences have carried me through the storm. Today I rise, stronger, grateful, and ready to embrace my passion again. The screens have missed me… and I’m back, doing what I love most,” she wrote.

In the emotional clip, partly rendered in Yoruba, Ogunmola revealed that she had been battling depression since losing her son two months ago.

“For the past two months since I lost my child, I have been depressed and in sadness. But as I have been sad, the whole world has let me know that they are with me. I see all the love, I feel your prayers, and I am grateful,” she said.

Quoting a Christian hymn, she added, “When it is convenient for us, you are the Most High. When it is not, you are still the Most High.”

While acknowledging that the pain of losing Ayomikun will never fully fade, Ogunmola said she is choosing to rise again, confident that her son would want her to continue pursuing her passion.

“Today, I rise again, not because the pain is gone, but because I know Ayomikun will want me to. My passion calls, and it is time for me to return to the screen where I belong,” she declared.

Married to fellow veteran actor Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Papi Luwe, Peju Ogunmola has long been celebrated as one of Yoruba cinema’s most enduring talents.

Her heartfelt message has drawn an outpouring of support from fans and industry colleagues, including Funsho Adeolu and Foluke Daramola, who earlier consoled her following her son’s passing.
