Rising Afrobeats singer Qing Madi has described the Nigerian music industry as “so dark” in a recent social media post, echoing similar sentiments from other artists

Up-and-coming Afrobeats singer Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, known professionally as Qing Madi, has expressed a negative view of the Nigerian music industry, labeling it as “so dark.” The 18-year-old artist shared her opinion in a brief message on her Instagram story.

Qing Madi’s sentiment aligns with recent allegations made by some of her colleagues in the industry. Notably, Reekado Banks recently claimed the existence of a “demonic” music executive who is allegedly sabotaging emerging talents within the Nigerian music scene.

Last year, Qing Madi also disclosed that she experienced a significant loss of social media followers after sharing messages about her Christian faith. However, she stated that she had no regrets about her actions.

Years prior, prominent artist Kizz Daniel also voiced similar concerns about the Nigerian music industry, describing it as a “cartel” controlled by a “cabal.”

Qing Madi’s recent comment adds to a growing narrative among some artists expressing disillusionment with the inner workings of the Nigerian music industry.
