Speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin, Bakre said the preparation for his character, Farouk, demanded both physical endurance and mental discipline, as he worked to authentically portray a professional boxer.

“I spent about a year training as a boxer. It wasn’t just about the body; I had to learn how to move, how to take a punch, and the discipline of the sport,” Bakre said, describing the intense process behind the performance.

Tobi’s Boxing Role Training journey, he noted, was essential to delivering a convincing and powerful performance on screen.

Directed by Fiyin Gambo, the film premiered in Nigerian cinemas on 17 April 2026 and centres on Farouk, a former teenage boxing champion seeking redemption.

The character returns to the ring to save his trainer’s struggling gym, while confronting a fierce rival and unresolved personal struggles.

The production features a strong ensemble cast, including Mike Afolarin, Seun Ajayi, Teniola Aladese, Femi Branch, and Ireti Doyle, among others.
