Toolz berates 2Face for publicly announcing his divorce from Annie, saying the couple should have handled their separation privately

Nigerian media personality Tolu Oniru, popularly known as Toolz, has criticised singer 2Face Idibia for making his separation from his wife, Annie, public.

Speaking in a recent episode of her podcast, *Off Air*, Toolz expressed disappointment over the timing and manner of the announcement.

She argued that the couple, who have experienced many public ups and downs in their marriage, should have handled their divorce privately.

According to Toolz, Annie was already facing intense criticism over her appearance on *Young, Famous & African*, and the news of the divorce only worsened the situation.

“There is a lot that goes on in marriages. They [2Face and Annie] have had very public ups and downs. But I just feel that this is something they could have handled privately, especially with what was going on with Annie at that point,” Toolz said.

She further stated that divorces often happen privately and suggested that 2Face’s decision to announce the separation publicly was insensitive.

“It didn’t need to come out now. People get divorced privately all the time. Everybody knows that Annie loves 2Face very much.

It’s quite sad because when you think about their love journey, everybody wanted a happy-ever-after for her, but life happened,” she added.

Toolz emphasised that, regardless of the challenges in their marriage, Annie remains the mother of 2Face’s children. She described the timing of the announcement as unfair, particularly when Annie was already facing public scrutiny.

“I feel like somebody you got married to, at some point, I imagined you loved, mother of your children, everything.

When she’s going through something really public and people are attacking her, it’s not nice to just come and announce that you’re divorcing her that same period,” she concluded.

The divorce announcement has sparked widespread reactions, with many supporting Toolz’s stance that such matters should be handled privately, while others argue that 2Face had the right to share his personal decisions publicly.
