Yomi Fash Lanso has credited self control and discipline for his success in Nollywood, stressing the importance of character transformation

Nollywood veteran Yomi Fash Lanso has opened up on his journey in the Nigerian film industry, attributing his long-standing success to discipline, self-control and professionalism.

The actor, widely known for his strong performances in Yoruba-language films, shared insights into his craft during an interview with Sunday Sun, where he reflected on what has sustained his relevance over the years.

Speaking on his approach to acting, Yomi Fash Lanso Nollywood experience, he emphasised the importance of total character transformation, noting that professional actors must fully adapt to each role without carrying personal traits into performances.

He explained that true acting requires complete immersion in character, including changes in appearance, movement and expression to suit different roles.

“That is what separates a professional actor from a regular one. You must be able to switch roles,” he said.

The actor further stressed that understanding a script deeply is essential to delivering convincing performances, adding that actors must fully interpret the “character bible” provided before filming begins.

He noted that this level of preparation allows actors to present believable characters and makes the director’s job easier on set.

Yomi Fash Lanso also described experienced performers as “directors’ actors”, explaining that such actors understand filmmaking demands and fully commit to their roles without hesitation.
