Zainab Bakare attended the premiere of Faithia Williams’ film Efunroye wearing a black dress that drew sharp reactions on social media, with some critics objecting to its revealing design.

Responding in posts shared online, Zainab Bakare said her outfit aligned with the event’s theme of royalty, wealth, and authority, insisting she had interpreted it appropriately.

“The theme says royalty, wealth and authority. How did we do?” she wrote, defending her choice with a confident tone.

In a separate message, the actress described herself as “beautiful, blessed, unbothered,” signalling a defiant stance amid the backlash.

The controversy intensified after videos from the premiere circulated online, though some observers argued that still photographs from the event presented the outfit more favourably.

Zainab Bakare has previously addressed her fashion preferences, explaining in an interview that comfort and Nigeria’s hot climate influence her decision to wear more revealing outfits.

She has also maintained that she is entitled to make personal style choices without external pressure.
