Stanley Ontop reveals Alex Ekubo’s cancer battle with stage 4 liver cancer and complications after transplant before his reported death

Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop has revealed disturbing details surrounding the death of late actor Alex Ekubo, stating that the screen star secretly battled stage 4 liver cancer before his passing.

The revelation came on Tuesday evening after reports of Alex Ekubo’s death sent shockwaves through Nollywood and left fans seeking clarity over the cause of his sudden demise.

In a post shared on Instagram, Stanley Ontop disclosed that Alex Ekubo had been diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2024 and had undergone a liver transplant in an attempt to manage the condition.

According to him, the actor briefly returned to work after the procedure, raising hope among colleagues and supporters.

However, complications reportedly set in when the transplanted liver failed again, leading to a rapid deterioration in his health.

Stanley Ontop further explained that Alex Ekubo’s condition worsened significantly until his eventual death, describing the situation as deeply painful for those close to him.

The filmmaker urged the public to avoid spreading unverified claims and to allow the family to grieve in peace during this difficult period.

He added that the actor’s remains had been deposited at the morgue.
