The tribute, titled “A Tribute to My Exceptional Son – I Love You Till Tomorrow,” was included in the funeral pamphlet distributed during the actor’s burial in Arochukwu, Abia State, between 17 and 18 June 2026.

Ekubo died on 11 May 2026 at the age of 40 after a brief but courageous battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

In the touching message, the grieving mother described her son as her joy and pride, writing: “Chief Ikuku Oma, thank you for being my joy and my pride. I am still longing for your calls, chats, care, unconditional love, your gist, your encouragement, your advice, our corporate prayers, and our praise and worship sessions.”

Yes, you were different in all that you did,” she wrote. “Losing such a precious son is a pain beyond human understanding, and my heart aches deeply. I will forever cherish the beautiful memories we shared.”

Evangelist Ekubo-Okwaraeke recalled how her son remained devoted to his Christian faith until the end. She said he once told her that introducing him to Jesus was the greatest gift she ever gave him.

She also remembered his words of encouragement during her moments of weakness: “Sweetheart, jide obi gi aka. Remember, God is beautiful in all situations.”

The bereaved mother expressed gratitude for the outpouring of tributes since his death and thanked his wife, Anwuli, for standing by him throughout his life.

She ended on a note of hope, saying: “This is very hard for me, Ikuku Oma. But my consolation is that we shall meet again on the resurrection morning, when we shall part no more.”
