AGN holds first International Festival in Miami, Florida
Nollywood actors under the aegis of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) have announced their upcoming first international festival billed to hold in Miami, Florida, United States of America between November 9 and 11, 2023.
The national President of the Guild, Emeka Rollas Ejezie, announced this during a press conference that held recently in Lagos. He said the international festival would afford actors, filmmakers and other creative professionals in the industry the opportunity to network, learn from one other and interact with their Hollywood counterparts.
“The festival will afford the Nollywood industry (members) the opportunity to network, learn from one another and interact with their Hollywood counterparts.”
The president who was re-elected into office in November 2022, informed that the AGN wanted to move closer to Hollywood to create more collaboration for the international casting directors to see the profile of Nigerian actors, noting that, that was why some actors who relocated to the States did not appear in any of their films. He also stressed that before those actors left the shores of Nigeria, they did not create a good profile that could land them some jobs in the Diaspora, and hence the need for the festival and collaboration in November.
He added that based on that, the highlights of the event would include red carpet gala and awards, screening, panel discussions, city tours including workshops and seminars.
Ejezie also mentioned that the festival was a game-notch because in the last 25 years, film festivals that had been produced by Nigerians or with foreign collaborators, more or less showcased the business side of the industry which expressed the extent the international collaborators could hire a Nollywood actor.
He highlighted that for the purpose of the event, reality TV star Nancy Isime and United States-based actor Joseph Benjamin, would host the 3-day festival which was expected to showcase over 70 Nollywood actors.
In the same vein, Dr. Alex Okoroji, actor and chairman, organising committee of the AGN, noted the mileage the event had brought to their industry already. He, therefore, thanked the Travel Film Festival for partnering them.
Avalanche Club is set to become the epicentre of celebration this Ileya Festival with a lineup of electrifying performances by some of Nigeria’s most beloved musicians.
The festivities kick off this Friday, June 14, with a performance by the renowned fuji musician King Aderemi Aluko. Known for his dynamic stage presence and captivating fuji beats, Aluko promises to deliver a show that attendees won’t soon forget.

IGWE as his fans love to call him is having the official welcome dance after a successful tour of Canada. Lovers of his music are assured of new fusion of fast tempo beats laced with lyrics that narrates his experience while in Canada.
On Sunday, June 16, the celebration continues with juju music sensation Witty Wale Thompson.
Thompson, a maestro of the juju genre, will take the stage at 7pm, bringing his smooth rhythms and engaging melodies to the delighted crowd. His performance is set to be a highlight of the weekend, as fans gather to enjoy his timeless hits and new compositions.
The Ileya Festival festivities at Avalanche Club don’t end there.
The following Friday, June 21, legendary musician Sir Shina Peters will grace the stage.
Known for pioneering the Afro-Juju genre, Sir Shina Peters has a reputation for his high-energy performances and musical prowess.
His show is anticipated to draw a large crowd, eager to see the legend perform live.

After successful London premiere, Aiyefele Movie to screen in all major cinemas across lagos from May 3rd (Photos)
On Friday 5th April 2024, Double Tees Productions premiered and screened the movie Aiyefele at the iconic Odeon Imac Cinema in Greenwich London.
The premiere red carpet was graced by hosts of Nollywood celebrities, from one of the lead actors Biola Adebayo, Bimbo Oshin. To celebrity guests Rykado Agbor and a host of others.
Aiyefele Movie (A Community on the Brink) is a riveting feature film that follows the journey of a community always on the brink of desolation; it struggles to find a cure for the plague killing its citizens as its beliefs and practices conflict with the new faith brought by missionaries. The people are threatened by a self-destructive culture,
assaulted by an endemic disease and oppressed by some evil forces until an unexpected visitor arrives to lead them from the drumbeats of sorrow to a vibrant tune of freedom.
Aiyefele features a respected ensemble cast in the industry, including Odun Adekola, Mercy Aigbe, Femi Branch, Bimbo Oshin, Biola Adebayo, Rotimi Salami, Lara Aiyeomoni and Akinola Akano. It is directed by
the award-winning Seun Olaiya.
Set in 18th Century Nigeria and England, Aiyefele takes its audiences on an emotional journey of sacrifice, reflection, and redemption.
Executive Producers are Toyin Moore and Omotayo Utomi.
Feedback from the Premiere in London has been hugely positive, with the audience describing the movie as interesting, funny, emotional, with a wow effect and an immersive experience.
AIYEFELE Movie will be showing at Bluepictures cinema in City Mall Lagos from Friday 3rd May 2024.
