‘Amanyanabo The Eagle King’ is poised to become one of Nollywood’s most impactful films as it gears up for a cinema release on September 12, following a global premiere in the UK on August 29.

The historical epic, directed by Fred Amata and produced by veteran actress Ibinabo Fiberesima, dives deep into the cultural legacy of the Ijaw people.

Set in 1892 Niger Delta, Amanyanabo The Eagle King tells the powerful true story of King Ibanichuka, the last sovereign ruler of Okrika, as he faces both colonial forces and betrayal from within.

The cast features Nollywood legends Nkem Owoh, Monalisa Chinda, Columbus Irosanga, Uju Okoli**, and Fiberesima, who also stars in the lead role.

Filmed in the creeks and marshlands of Okrika, the production beautifully showcases the resilience of an African city-state with an advanced political structure, challenging outdated stereotypes of pre-colonial Africa.
